Partnerships with other veteran serving organizations and health care providers are crucial to reaching at-risk veterans and service members to reduce the military suicide rate. Collaboration ensures clients get the support they need.
We know we aren’t the only organization focused on improving the well-being of U.S. veterans and service members. But it will take all of us to put an end to military suicide.
Is there ever a time when a member of your team is worried about a client’s or patient’s risk of suicide? For those service members and veterans living with significant suicidality, research shows that providing suicide-specific care reduces suicidality and saves lives.
That’s where we come in.
Organizations that serve veterans can refer clients to ROGER, the wellness service of Stop Soldier Suicide, for direct access to our one-of-a-kind suicide intervention model. ROGER is available 24/7 to start the process and assess the service member or veteran's unique situation to get them set up for the care they need. By making the referral, these organizations make our services more accessible to their communities, potentially saving hundreds of lives each year.
ROGER services are focused on suicide prevention in the veteran and service member community and include confidential and personalized virtual mental health counseling, crisis intervention and safety planning.
ROGER services are evidence-based and tailored to meet individual client needs, with a core focus on increasing safety and overall well-being for at-risk veterans and service members. The ROGER team can also assist with finding resources and referrals that help veterans and service members deal with life’s stressors. All ROGER services are 100% free to U.S. veterans and service members, and all veterans and service members are welcome regardless of status, how they were discharged, age, or years of service.
The ROGER team is licensed and highly trained to provide suicide-specific care…and they get it.* Many of our counselors have served in the military or are military family members. Each Wellness Coordinator goes through extensive training upon joining our team, including training on our specific care modalities, trauma-informed care, biopsychosocial care, and motivational interview techniques.
All organizations, regardless of an existing partnership, are encouraged to submit a third-party help request for a service member or veteran who needs suicide-specific care.
These allies in the nonprofit, private, and health sectors have come alongside Stop Soldier Suicide to help us learn more about suicide and save lives. To each of the organizations who have joined us in program support, thank you for your trust in us. Together, we will win this fight.
