Nearly 20% of our clients are women who served our nation.

Consider the following:

  • Female veterans 2.2x more likely to die by suicide than their civilian counterparts.
  • More than 65% of female veterans experience "significant loss of income" after transitioning out of the military, compared to just over 40% of male veterans.
  • More than 40% of female veterans report experiencing military sexual trauma while serving.

By 2040, it's predicted that female veterans will make up 16% of the overall veteran population - more than a three-fold increase from the turn of the century.

The thought of continuing to lose them at this rate isn't just terrifying - it's unacceptable.

More than 1,000,000 American service members or veterans identify as LGBTQ+.

While the exact percentage isn't yet clear, that absolutely includes some of the clients in our care.

Recent research indicates that the rate of suicide for veterans in the LGBTQ+ community is up to 7x higher than for non-LGBTQ+ veterans.

Studies also show that nearly 15% of all veterans or service members who identify as LGBTQ+ attempt suicide during or after service.

Service is service. Period.

To assert otherwise is unacceptable.

Nearly 40% of our clients are Black veterans - more than 3x the percentage of the overall veteran population.

Consider the following:

  • While estimates vary, data indicates that between 30-40% of Black veterans and service members are diagnosed with PTSD during or after service.
  • Black veterans account for more than 30% of all veterans experiencing homelessness.
  • Nearly 60% of Black veterans in a Military Medicine research study indicated "yes" when asked if they experienced discrimination during their military service.

Communities of color often face barriers to quality healthcare, particularly mental health care. That's unacceptable, and it has real consequences.

Historically underserved communities deserve equal access to quality care.

We're proud that our services are equally available to all veterans and service members, no matter who they are or what they're going through.
