What is Stop Soldier Suicide and how do you help?

Stop Soldier Suicide is the only national nonprofit exclusively focused on reducing military and veteran suicide. Founded by veterans in 2010, we provide free, confidential, and personalized care to service members and veterans from every branch and generation—regardless of discharge status. Through our wellness service, ROGER, we offer evidence‑based, suicide‑specific care including crisis intervention, safety planning, virtual mental health counseling, and ongoing outreach.

Who can access your services, and what do they cost?

Our services are available to all U.S. veterans and service members, as well as loved ones concerned about someone at risk. We do not require proof of service or a specific discharge status. All services are provided at no cost, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.

Are you a nonprofit? How do I know you’re legitimate?

Yes. Stop Soldier Suicide is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is recognized by the IRS. We hold a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly Guidestar™) and meet rigorous nonprofit standards.

How can I support your mission, and where does my donation go?

You can support us by donating, volunteering, or sharing our mission. Your donation directly funds suicide‑specific care, like crisis response, safety planning, virtual mental health support through ROGER, and proactive outreach to those most at risk.

Are donations tax‑deductible and are there fees?

Yes. Donations are tax‑deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and you’ll receive a receipt for your records. Some payment processors charge small fees for online gifts; you can choose to cover those fees so 100% of your intended donation goes to care.
